It depends. For some people they make wonderful pets...but for some no. Did you know they're nocturnal? Which means that they're only hyper at around 11 pm or sometimes as late as 1 am. Are you willing to stay up late to ensure that your glider is happy? Also, they require a special diet and you cant just buy it at some pet store. You have to mix it up your self everynight and cut up fruits and veggies nightly. They also do better in pairs. They're very social animals and if kept alone they could become lonely, depressed, and could die from it. Although, if you can spend most of the day and night with one glider it should be fine.
They also require a huge cage not something small like a hamsters. They can also live for 10-15 years if taken cared of properly. HTH

Anything can make a good pet if you understand the animals habits and what makes it happy. Sugar gliders are difficult pets to own succesfully, but if you are willing to invest time and money, they can be a very rewarding pet. I suggest doing your research because sugar gliders are indeed good pets, but they may not be the best pet for you.

We considered getting one as a pet also. I read that they make great pets because they are low maintenance.
Their diet is the most difficult aspect.

They do require a lot of time and care, however, so you'll need to be sure you're fully prepared for the committment. I have one Miss Felony, i have had for 4 years now. She is very cool and social, as most gliders are however, they are not low maintenance, they have to have fresh food every evening and you have to keep their cage clean, they are very messy and if you dont keep up with them they can smell pretty bad. You also have to spend lots of time with them, which means at night, because thta is when they are awake. And you will have to listen to the barking, which drives me crazy. They are worth it if you have the time to invest.

Well my brother had one for years and they are neat animal. Only complaint I have about them is they are messy and they go through the crazies at night while you are trying to sleep. That is their awake time and they make a lot of noise. Plus they alway have that dirty sweet smell that I couldnt stand.

well my friend got really good feed back on them so her mom got them some.but they would let u even change their water with out bitting you!if u get them young ya they can make good pets but get them older and you could end up with a mini devil!they were kept with the kids and the kid where afried to sleep at night

i knew someone that had a couple. It was pretty kool. Better pet than a turtle for sure. lol
