Honestly, as a girl and as a big sister....i honestly think anything over 16 is fine. I started wearing make-up when i turned sixteen and from then on I have always used it. In comparison, I have a little sister 15, who i know isnt ready for makeup. I think parents shouldnt want to make their kids grownups too early but make their kids enjoy their childhood. Teach kids how to use chapstick or lip gloss with no color is fine.........I had a cousin who started wearing makeup at the age of 12 and well now all she cares is her looks and her makeup and her sex life and it is just horrible cause she just graduated highschool and isnt going to college.....I am not blaming the makeup but maybe is this young adult was allowed to be a child a little longer maybe things would of been extremely different.

There really isn't an certain age. Whatever age that you start feeling you need it is the age you should wear it. I started wearing make-up at 12, but for some girls that may be too young to start. If you are in 8th grade or older, I think it would be ok to start but if you're younger, ask your mom.

Well 12 is a little too young, maybe thirteen

If you were to start at 12, just start with something simple..... for examples:

1. Natural eyeshadow
2. Maybe a little eyeliner
3. Some lipgloss
4. If you haven't done your eyebrows, you should concider it for a new nice look, that way your eyes can look nice with out alot of the eyemake up

later you can start wearing something a little more fun

Get permission first, and avoid looking like a clown......

luck

Wearing make-up is a girl's "right to passage" into womanhood......but it should be initated by a "light start"..preferably around 14-15 years old. A little gloss, blush, and maybe mascara...is a subtle way to start and still look "au natural" and youthful. The use of foundations should wait...because sometimes "teenage" skin has problems and those can just exacerbate (worsen) them, unless recommended by a dermatologist.

When they start high school. Middle schoolers wearing make up look like they were digging through mommy's things and playing dress up. But if you still don't want to, you shouldn't have to. I still only wear lip gloss, foundation and/or eyeliner if anything and I'm 17 and a half. I personally don't like the stuff.

I THINK GIRLS SHOULD START WEARING MAKE-UP AROUND THE AGE OF 18&19 BECAUSE SOME GIRLS ALREADY LOOK VERY MATURE SO TO KEEP THEM FROM LOOKING OLD OR OLDER THEY SHOULD WAIT AND WEAR MAKE-UP THEIR SENIOR YEAR IN HIGHSCHOOL.I SAY THIS B/C U R ABOUT 2 LEAVE HOME AND START AT BECOMING A WOMAN SO U HAVE 2 GET IN THE PHASE OF WEARING MAKE-UP IF U LIKE IT. ALSO U SHOULD WEAR MAKE-UP LATER ON IN UR LIFE B/C MAKE-UP CAN DRY UR SKIN AND MAKE U LOOK VERY OLD SO THINK ABOUT IT.

Most parents say high school but I started wearing eyeliner in 8th grade when I was 13.

I was allowed to wear nothing but lip gloss until I was 16. I think little girls should be little girls much longer than they are now.

It depends on what you mean.

My personal opinion:

Lip gloss with no color : whenever they get interested in make-up

Blush, eyeshadows, lip color: Probably in Jr High but only lighter shades of pink and peach.

Foundation and darker make-up: Highschool but only after she's been with a make-up consultant like MaryKaye, Avon, or Beauticontrol...(someone you have seen with make-up). They can teach her how to apply it properly and tastefully. And I would discourage foundation unless her skin has uneven skintones or bad dark circles.
