I don't get offended, but I do get worried if a close friend is dieting when they don't need to. I have a friend who is thin but is obsessed about losing weight and regularly goes to a slimming club with her mum. I was really shocked that her mum was encouraging her to go, instead of telling her she looked fine and didn't need it (possibly so that she has someone to go with...). I also have another friend who is thin and whose boyfriend tells her she's fat if she puts on the tiniest bit of weight. She eats irregularly as it is. Just as a friend, that kind of stuff bothers me, but no, I wouldn't say I was offended.

Depends on if they are naturally skinny or really do have to diet to look that way.
If the person is naturally skinny, then it's annoying. Kind of like a natural blonde bragging about having blonde hair or a highly intelligent person bragging about high SAT scores.
If the person is skinny because of dieting, then it can be either exciting or insulting. Depends if the person is saying it because she is proud of the results of her hard work or because the person is implying that other chubby people should also go on a diet.

yes I do get offended because women are so influenced by the media to be skinny that they would do anything to look like the women in magazines even if it kills them.
They know those women really don't look like that yet they still fell the need to look like the pictures.
When women are on diets when they don't need to be they are hurting their body more than helping it unless the diet is a healthy one which in almost all cases it isn't.

people who get offended when others are on a diet are clearly lacking in the self-confidence department. theyre thinking that if this girl whos already thin is dieting, i must look like a beached whale!!! people who are comfortable in their bodies and happy with how they look dont care what other people do to themselves!

But it is like the whole switzerland being neutral but having the most well trained army and protection plan thing. You get paranoid. It shows up the persons insecurity and preoccupation, it is not meant as an insult at all.

Yes, unfortunately I do, I am what I can only kindly describe as FLUFFY, and these birds to cheese me off, when they start nibbling at a crisp as if it was a three course meal.
I generally laugh (sadonically I admit) and sugguest that I have seen more fat on a chip, and would they like a transplant.
My husband says he prefers a comfortable cuddle then sleeping with a box of spanners. (Bless him)
I AM NOT JEALOUS - I love every cuddly inch of me!!!

If this was a constant issue with someone who was clearly damaging their health, I'd take issue with it. Otherwise it's usually one of my girlfriends fishing for a compliment and hoping someone will say "You look fine! You don't need to go on a diet!" And sometimes it's just us being obsessive about our bodies and just not terribly high on my list of priorities to raise a fuss about. *L*

What I don't like is when people claim to be on a diet, only in the presence of others, and therefore limit the menu, so to speak. Then later on, they eat everything in sight. Pisses me off.

Not offended. I do try to get my idea of their necessity accross though. Also, I am plump myself, and usually a long stare is enough to get the point accross (I am fit and energetic, so the bit of overweight doesn't bother me, I look well enough, thank you!)
