i had the SAMEEE problem!
my dad would always yell at me because i would bit them and sometimes they would bleed.

but i decided to change my nails

here are some things that worked for me
choose which ever u like...

-get manicures !! get a great paint job and u will not want to bit or ruin them. you will be letting ur nails grow but also have cute hands!!

-they have certain nail polishes that are for people who bite their nails... it has a HORRIBLE taste.. so when u put it to ur mouth and taste the polish .. u wanna puke.. its clear so u can actually put it over any other color... it worked for me.. after a few times of tasting the paint.. i couldnt bite my nails again.. and i was an AVID nail biter. they have them in any place where nail polish is sold! and its cheap

good luck!!!

Just keep in mind how many germs are under your nails, even just after then have been washed thoroughly. If you could see the germs under a microscope, you could keep them out of your mouth. Keep thinking of this every time you want to bite them off and carry a pair of nail clippers or a file with you always so you can take care of any broken or chipped nails as necessary.

It may look silly for a little while, but the best advice I can give is try to wear bandaids on every finger for a week or two - after you start biting the bandaids (they taste nasty), you should break the habit. If not, try to wear gloves as often as you can for a few weeks - since you can't bite your nails then, it might break the habit.

I had that habit when I was young. I tried everything to stop biting them. Even put tobasco sauce on it and I still bit them. When I turned 18, I asked my boyfriend if he wanted me to have long nails and he said yes. Ever since then, I haven't touched them. It's all about how bad you want them to grow. You just have to have the willpower. They also sell stuff you can put on them to keep you from biting them. It is suppose to taste really bad. I never tried it though.

They make a type of nail polish to help you stop biting your nails that tastes very bitter. Everytime you put your hand in your mouth, you get a reminder that you should stop.

Very good, and effective.

There is this like.. nail-polish like stuff you put on your nails.. and it basically tastes horrible and can be actually really hot as well. It's used to stop kids from sucking their thumbs and to keep people from biting their nails.

I really don't know what it's called.. but I'm sure pharmacies and stuff have it.

You could try keeping a sour liquid on your nails, perhaps something you can buy in the store or make yourself. Just brush it on with something and if you go to bite your nails, you taste lemon or maybe salt, thereby discouraging you?

I put fake ones on for awhile. You can't chew on those! After a while, my real nails began to grow underneath and I was able to kick the habit.
