If a 3D Rectangle with a base of 10 in for the long side and 5 in for the short site and the height of 6 in...
S=2(50) + 30(6)= 280 in 2.

How do i get the perimeter of a prism?

Solution.
With 3d shapes you have perimeter,area and volume.

Your 84 is probably area.

The permieter is found by taking 2*(Base)+ 2*(Shortside)
So...
2*10+2*5 = 30 in (not in^2)

30 is the shortest distance around the prism.

perimeter of the prism is the perimeter of the cross section which is a rectangle and so it is 2(l+b)=2(10+5)=30 in.
area of cross section is l*b=10*5=50 in^2
the total surface areawill be 2(lb+lh+bh)=2(50+60+30)=280in^2
volume=area of cross section *height=50*6=300in^3
