When you've been in a long-term relationship and he/she breaks up with you, you feel like you've lost your bestest friend in the whole entire world. Now I have alot of mate friends including girls but there is just something different when you are with someone, like the commitment etc. Is it possible to have this best friend thing again with another relationship?
Also, as much as I want to contact my ex and be friends with her, I know it won't be the same. Has anyone been in a similar situation where they just want to call there ex to be best friends again. If so what did you all do. Thanks in advance.

This is something that happens to a lot of men....an man's significant other is usually the person who knows him the best and who he tells everything to. A woman almost always has girlfriends that she's always shared things with so while she misses him she still has a support system. Don't call her because you need a friend and she can't help you get over her. Sorry.

Yes, this is one of the worst parts about breaking up - losing your best friend.

It takes SO much time to make a best friend, ya know? You can't just go out and replace them. You can't just start trusting people, or sharing things the same way.

Can you eventually have it again? You bet, but it takes a LONG time to develop extremely close friendships.

Lot's of people go through this in life. Its just part of the process of relationships. I've been through this situation myself, and lots of my friends have as well. Sometimes people want to remain friends after they split up and other times they want nothing to do with each other. Of course its possible to have this again with another person. Give you're ex space, if you're meant to stay friends, you will know it.
