Yes, and over time I've come to realize that instant dislike is often based on similarity in looks and/or behavior to other individuals I have known before that I had not liked. Frequently I'm not consciously aware of the connection until I come into contact with the first person again.
Same thing for instantly deciding you like someone. It's almost as if you treat the second person like the first until they give you reason to do otherwise.
Sometimes too you can instantly like or dislike someone because of the circumstances in which you meet (e.g. an opponent in an athletic event).
I've gotten better at recognizing where my initial reaction is coming from and waiting to have sufficient evidence to determine how I really feel about someone.

It doesn't happen too often, but when it does, they know it within the first 10 minutes or less if I have to spend any amount of time near them. I can walk by a perfect stranger in a store and get a chill running through my body. I had that same chill when I first met one of my neighbors for the first time but for the sake of neighborhood friendship, I turned a blind eye to it. It turns out that he beats and kicks his dog, who just loves him. He left her in his basement for a week in the dark while he went out of state. She had to take her poos down there, and when he got back he beat her for that. Now I can't even look at him. I hate him. I feel like that person in the commercials with a little devil sitting on one shoulder and an angel on the other. I've never seen him do these things to his dog, but the devil will win the day that I do.
