"I am shocked and deeply distressed by the apparently deliberate targeting by Israeli Defence Forces of a UN observer post in southern Lebanon"
"The co-ordinated artillery and aerial attack on a long established and clearly marked UN post ... occurred despite personal assurances given to me by (Israeli) Prime Minister Ehud Olmert that UN positions would be spared Israeli fire."

United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan on Wednesday that he has instructed the military to carry out a thorough investigation into an Israel Air Force strike on a UN base in southern Lebanon, in which four peacekeepers were killed.

He told Annan that the results would be shared with him.

Israel said Wednesday that it regrets the "tragic" deaths of the observers and will thoroughly investigate the circumstances that led to their deaths.

"Israel sincerely regrets the tragic deaths of the UN personnel in south Lebanon," said Foreign Ministry spokesman Mark Regev.

Annan had earlier called for an inquiry into what he called Israel's "apparently deliberate targeting" of the UN observer force.

Olmert expressed dismay over Annan's comments. "It's inconceivable for the UN to define an error as an apparently deliberate action," the statement said.

In wars, accidents happen. Just because Kofi Annan ( an anti- Israel if there ever was one ) says the affair deliberate, does not in any way make it true.
Before we can take his word, we have to know just where he was ar the time, how much did he personally witness , who passed on the information to him, does he leave the probability that it was a mistake ?
In the Second World War, I served in the front-line infantry from the Pearl Harbor attack to central Czechoslovakia. I've seen many of your own men killed by our own fire. And just as many Germans were accidently killed by German fire.
I don't know what your military experience is, but if you haven't spent months on the front lines during heavy enemy fire, don't use your imagination, or judge others.

Trying for B, I agree with what ya said.

Occupation followed by occupation, followed by the UN dictating what to do with Lands after Britain bailed, what the hell do pople think Arabs should feel.

Dont forget who helped Sadaam get into power due to our fears Qassam was a commie lover.

I am not saying Arab nations are innocent or correct, but we need to start understanding why the US and Israel is viewed the way it is.

Kofi said it was deliberate before the smoke even cleared....he does not know whether they did it on purpose or not.....Hezbollah was firing their missiles from on top of the UN forces positions, which quite honestly make their area targets....why did Kofi not tell them to get the hell out of there....they weren't allowed to defend themselves, and very lightly armed.....it is as much the UN's fault as Israels, and mostly Hezbollah, I think

they were in the middle of a war mistakes happen as long as it doesn't happen more than once. I don't see the UN putting an end to the violence, but instead they put observers to get in the way. If they don't want their observers getting bombed than don't be so castrate and show some power.

Yep. The people they killed were terrorists and those who ask questions like yours will be called antisemetics.

Israel is incapable of ever doing anything wrong. Remember the holocaust where they were the victims. They will never forget.

That is all well and good. But, they should not commit equal abuse and cloak themselves in the guise of "victims forever".

Yeah, go ahead. Have at me. I'm fed up with it. And we are financing and never demurring on their escapades.
