Enjoy your life with your spouse. Don't worry about what might or might not happen. When the unknown becomes known, you deal with it then, not worry about it until it does happen. Marriage can be the most wonderful experience of your life if you let it. It can also be the most stressful if you spend a lot of time worrying about what might happen. Roll with the punches. Remember to never go to bed angry with each other. Say I LOVE YOU at least once a day. Then, when the unexpected happens, you will have no regrets. Congrats on the marriage.

With the technology today, it is rare that you would die during childbirth. Women back in the day use to die all the time because their hips were too narrow for the baby to pass through and they had no way of doing a c-section, or because the woman would hemorrhage and they couldn't stop the bleeding, etc. Is labor and delivery painful? Yes... I gave birth to my son at a birthing center with ABSOLUTELY NO DRUGS even with back labor pain which is described to be the worse labor to have. I never once thought of wanting drugs during labor and delivery. Even though painful, being able to feel my body work was the most glorious and rewarding thing I've ever done and I wouldn't change it if I could. After having my child, I felt so accomplished and like I had just done the impossible and I cannot wait to do it again. You will be fine, if you truly want to have children. The 9 month irritations, labor, and delivery are very rewarding when you are holding that beautiful angel in your arms. I have known women that have very low pain tolerance but are able to accomplish labor and delivery. You must keep and positive mindset about your pregnancy, labor, and delivery, and not think about all the horrible things that can happen or you WILL defeat yourself before anything has even begun. You WILL cause yourself to have a bad pregnancy, labor, and delivery. If you don't think you can handle the pain, hospitals do have pain medication... however, it DOES effect your baby. I don't care what anyone says. Medical studies now are saying it DOES pass to the baby. But, if you are not concerned about that and you don't think you can handle the pain, take advantage of it. A lot of women are now days. Good luck and God bless you! Also, read Mind Over Labor by Carl Jones. It is a great book for helping you have a positive mindset about labor and delivery and it tells you the importance of having that positive mindset.

If you had lived together first there would be few unknowns to fear. If you haven't already discussed your goals, like career and children, do so now.
