I want to take pictures of the Chicago Harbor Lighthouse and the Navy Pier and I was wondering if you see the Chicago Harbor Lighthouse / Navy Pier from the air if you are flying in from Arkansas to O'Hare Airport in Chicago?

Sometimes, depending on the approach that your aircraft takes to the airport.

They'll probably be on the left side of the plane.

taking pictures from an airplane window usually doesn't work well. There are 2 panes of glass between you and the outside, and neither are very clean. Your camera may focus on the window, any debris or dirt on the window, plus the potential for reflection back inside the cabin of the plane. My dad used to try to get pictures through plane windows and they always looked like junk.

And I don't know if, coming in from Arkansas, that your plane would go anywhere near Navy Pier coming into O'hare airport.

The plane probably won't be that low to get a good look at a lighthouse. Your best bet to get those photos is to come to navy Pier once you land and take one of the cheap boat rides that goes out to the lake. They go pretty close to the lighthouses and you get a good view of the pier and city skyline from the water. It's a better picture when you take it from the water.

Hi,
It depends on which direction you come in for a landing and approach, nothing is certain which way you will come in for a landing, up to ATC. The best way to get the photographs, is too actually head down to Navy Pier; in person. You might be able to still get a nice photo. Turn your flash off!

The only way you'll see it landing at ORD is if you are landing on Runway 27L, maybe 27R, and you need to be on the left-hand side window seat to even get a good glimpse of it.

Departure pic is out of the question, just trust me on that one.
