You can't become President unless you have very wealthy connections that want you to be President. Money = Election Victory = More Money through policy change
The bright side is you don't want to be president anyway. That would be like asking to be captain of the Titanic an hour after the iceberg hit it.

The laws of the land, and ethics.
Of course these days, the president and his cabinet don't have many lawyers among them. David Addington, the main man for Cheney, is an exception. Hopefully, we can return to having presidents who have practiced law, who know it and respect it well.

I think no one should be allowed to run for any national office without a background in American History AND political science. Otherwise they don't know what they're doing, and too often pursue inappropriate goals.
