I help make movies. The two ways to make it to Hollywood is via comedy or horror. The super big studios don't want to spend the money on an expensive "horror" flick when an Indie producer can garner more support with a low budget slasher film. We are considering doing a horror movie in the Spring of '07 along the lines of a mass murderer with an unusual fetish.

i agree with you SOOOOOO MUCH!!
i want to see a movie that is just ULTRA CREEPY and scary, that doesn't attempt to mask its failure to be scary by clouding it in bad plot lines and "humor"..
i really liked "haunted hill" towards the beginning. after a while, they had to resolve the plot, and it stopped being "scary" or whatever, but it was great! i loved how the woman would be in the bathrooms and it was already super freaky, and when it got dark, everything went from creepy to ultra freeky, and stuff got all weird, and stuff was shrieking, and all crazy..
and the part in the begninning where there is a formless, humpbacked shaped creature thing hobbling towards her all freaky like.. i LOVE creatures that dont have much definition, shiny eyes, that shriek, and are hard to see in the dark!!
they need to just go with a thriller as scary as polturgiest was.. that crap was soooooooo freaky!
i often wonder if the problem with suspending your disbelif is because youre not a kid anymore... i guess its just easier to freak kids out, but on the other hand, like you said about the effects they can make, it seems like they hold back!!
i TOTALLY agree!!

I don't know, I think that ghost movies are overrated anyways... they tried with 'An American Haunting'... don't get me wrong, it had a good story to it... just wasn't a good movie... hollywood has lost their touch with ghost movies... 'The Others' was okay but it was the last good one that has been made...

I liked 13 Ghosts, that was pretty creepy. Other than that, there hasen't been a good ghost movie in a long time. They need to get on that!

i do no longer think of this is plenty Hollywood vs. Asian as this is funds vs. paintings. The Grudge is a hybrid of Asian and Hollywood author/director Takishi Shimizu's tale warped with the aid of an American screenplay author. i do no longer keep in mind his call, yet i do no longer think of he had too many credit to his call earlier and any that he did exchange into in basic terms approximately unquestionably crap. each and every time vast funds gets a whiff of a attainable fad, they throw all they are in a position to to "Americanize" the action picture so as that they are in a position to distribute it to the a lot and pull in as much as they are in a position to and income from an artist and turn them inot their whore. elementary and easy this action picture exchange into extra comical & predictable than frightening as a right away effect of capatalizing on the sucess of the hoop. quite sturdy horror video clips are stressful to with the aid of. Now extra suitable than ever with the theory that blood and screams make a action picture frightening. There are sturdy ones available and sure, Japan has some very sturdy video clips partly with the aid of fact there folklore remains foreign places to us. "Hollywood" will placed out a great ghost action picture, yet all in all i think of "Indie" is the thank you to bypass (much less funds & suits telling them what to do).
