Santorini or Mykonos, which is better??

Question

I only have three days to visit a greek island, im trying to choose between staying at the Contiki resort on Mikonos or going to Santorini, anyone been to both,, or any suggestions??

Im 22 and me and a female friend are travelling together... we want scenic beauty, a bit of relaxation and a bit of partying!!!

I had a day in each on a cruise and I really preferred Mykonos to Santorini. Mykonos was just so peaceful and slow. Not much happening, a very relaxing place. I would love to go back there. Santorini is larger and has some great vistas, but I still preferred Mykonos.

I've been to both. Santorini is for couples. I went there with a friend and you can do everything in a day, but it is a very romantic island. I'd recommend Mykonos if you want the nightlife. Either island has pretty good beaches, but Mykonos is where the parties on the beaches last all night long.

unless your primary goal is partying i"d say santorini. I recently went to both and enjoyed santorini much more. There is a lot more to look at (red sand beach is amazing, the caldera, the towns of fira and oia) and the beaches are just as good. Mykonos has some crazy parties and a younger/louder crowd whereas santorini is more laid back and relaxing. I think they are both about equally crowded depending on the time of year.

If you go to Santorini, make sure you stay at Oia. Santorini is an amazing island, but the town is too crowded in a bad way.
I would suggest Mykonos though. Great town, beaches, and nice nightlife. But if you go in mid August it might be too crowded. Late August is best.

There are three beaches of Santorini you can visit, one of these is the beach at the village of Kamari and the other is Perissa beach and Perivolos on the south side of the island and the third is the Red Beach at Akrotiri village.

Mykonos is the favorite jet set location and it's almost always crowded from June up to end of September. Santorini is a much bigger island and unique in its geological structure and infamous for it's magnificent view of the ocean from the villages. My concern is your lack of time. If you intend on flying from your country directly to the the islands then you will get a chance to see at least a little of it. If however you are leaving from Athens, then you wont have time for anything. They are both quite a distance by boat and the trip will take you half a day at least.

Santorini is for couples, very romatic to see the sunset!. Myconos is for night life, its up to you to choose, both are great, but this time many people in all. Have a nice trip whatever you decide!.
