I have had this aloe vera plant for almost two years and it is currently living in my office right next to a very sunny window. However I've noticed lately that the newer strands (tendrils? Leaves? Stalks? not sure of terminology here) are very thin, very long, and they're strating to have kinks and bends in them as they grow over the edge of the pot, instead of sloping nicely. It's almost like they don't have the strength or durability to grow outwards so they just flop over once they get out too far. I'm worried that those stalks will not have much usable aloe in them (for burns and such).

Anyone know what is up with this or what I should do? I've tried googling aloe vera plant but I haven't come up with anything.

aloe vera like cactus stores lots of water and is designed to live in dry climates a few things come to mind as to what the problem would be first you've had this plant for two years and it may be getting too big for it's pot and to compensate it's new leaves are smaller and weaker.

Another problem may be the enviroment you have it in right now.
Aloe Vera turns brown in harsh sunlight so it should be kept in indirect light. It will freeze so it must be protected when danger of heavy frost exists. Other than that, it grows faster outside than inside, but most people grow Aloe Vera as an indoor, ornamental plant.

Aloe is best grown outdoors where there's no chance of freezing or frost. Being a native plant of Africa, it's used to direct sunlight and heat and is draught resistant. Growing indoors, it's best to keep it where you have it- in direct sunlight. Perhaps you're over watering it. Keep the soil moist, but not constantly wet. A light watering once a week is all it needs. Let the current soil dry out some before watering again.

Yes you need some new potting soil or some kind of fertilizer and get it out of the direct sunlight. It does not need a great amount of light. If you put it in sun lol it will look real real bad lol like one wife and I had few years back. It will love shade lol.

If it is two years old it might be time to repot it into a bigger home, and aloe loves a few hours of shade. Doesnt need a lot of water, either, so try watering every other day.
