Someone is wanting to sue me for something and I was wondering what will happen when I have to appear in court? There is no chance that I would go to jail is there?

If you appear in court, you agree that the court has jurisdiction over you.

Yes it is possible that you will end up in jail This might happen if you will be rude and disrespectfully to the judge. This is called "contempt of the court".[1]
As long as you stay civil the worst thing that will happen is that you will have to pay money or abide by injunction that the court will issue.
In any case i suggest you get a lawyer.

On the civil suit, if you are served notice of a complaint, you will have to answer the complaint and appear in court on the given date, failure to do so will result in default judgment against you

On going to jail unless you tell the judge off you will not be going to jail in the civil suit
