my ex. when he broke up told me he would never love me again. and for the last month or so he's been begging me to hang out with him, and he then says that I make him depressed when I say I'm not going to hang out with him. He then told me he loves me as a friend, and that he's addicted to me, and that he's willing to make our friendship a rly close one. what does this mean? does he realize what he lost? or is he just playing games?

guys have a hard time loosing. they also can't deal with the "no"
although he was the one to leave you, he can't handel you rejecting him, simply 'cos it hurts his ego.
the reason he wants to stay friend is not because he still loves you (as a g/f) but probably cuz he likes you as a friend and feels comfortable around you. if it doesn't hurt you to be around him as friends only (although i don't think that's possible) then go ahead and have fun. but if not, stay away from him. after all, he left you only once but you are the one to reject and leave him every time when you say no...

He still cares about you and likes spending time with you but he is NOT going to make you his girlfriend again. "Willing to make our friendship a really close one" translates to "I still want to **** you but I don't want you to be my girlfriend." You can do better and find a real man who will want you without restrictions.

most of my ex boys, are really close friends, they are the closest i have, so to tell you the truth hang out with him and if he is an asshole than you know you wasted your time and tell him that you tried being friends but it hasnt worked out. believe me your ex b/fs will become the closest you'll ever have

Sure he realizes what he lost. But it's not your responsibility to console or babysit him. It sounds like he broke it off with you, yes? That's what you need to remember. He's unreliable and probably shortsighted. Don't prolong your agony.

He might be playing games, or he thinks that he was stupid for letting you go, be carefull, don't jump in the relationship, test him, give it some time and than you'll see what to do.
