Not unless you have allowed it to remain open and gather up all sorts of dust and debris. Neither will natural oil decay fast enough to be of concern.

The only fluid in a car that will go bad if left open is brake fluid. Throw away a half open bottle of brake fluid after a few weeks. It is hydroscopic and thus will soak up the moisture in the air. The motor oil has no ability to soak up water, so no, your good.

If it's only 1/2 quart why take the chance of getting it contaminated by dirt.
put this in your car
1/2 quart is not enoug to hurt the engine because while your driving you will have almost 1/2 of your oil in the upper part of the engine

why didnt you open it all the way?? motor oil will not go "bad" as long as you put the cap back on
