sometimes the spell check does not work. some do not feel that it really matters, they are not being graded. I can usually figure most of them out anyway. But I wouldn't call anyone dumb. I say closer to uncaring.

Today's 'misspelled words and bad grammar' are a signature of todays' lazy feel-good society, where it 'doesn't matter' or people THINK it does not matter.

Many people using the internet are using the short forms, such as 'cu' and 'yw' and hundreds of others. This saves 'time' when text messaging and typing messages, however it has influenced the useage of the English language, sadly to it's detriment.

And YES, people ARE that dumb, they just don't recognize the harm they are doing to themselves.

The fact of the matter is that, bottom line, and without exception, if you spell badly, and constantly COMMUNICATE poorly in the written language, you appear to be illiterate ---whether you are a teacher, a child, magician, a student, a doctor, lawyer, or ditch-digger.

Over the past decade or so, spelling and grammar have become less important. The English language has become "bastardized" -- and it seems like no one cares. Youth of today don't want to appear smart, so they don't care if they misspell. I bet many of them don't even know that "prolly" is not a word, and that the real word is "probably."

Part of it is due to Instant Messaging, where they use a sort of shorthand. Rap music is another big influence. Most of the so-called "celebrities" in their lives are uneducated, and the kids emulate them.

They don't bother to use Spell Check, because it can't figure out what the word is supposed to be!

I'd guess it's because misspelled words are often missed by spell checking programs, and the average person cannot write a simple declarative sentence anymore. They stopped teaching grammar at about the 4th grade in the school district where my children went to school. I had to teach them the finer points myself. And that was in an "Award Winning" school system! I don't know what happens in "poor schools". People aren't all that dumb, but they are very, very ignorant, and a lot of them are also intellectually lazy.

I do not think they are dumb. Lazy perhaps, or misguided to believe that correct grammar is not required to communicate properly. For some, English is their second language. Also, instant written communication by email, text or instant messaging has created a need for clipped, shortened words and it is an equivalent of spoken slang. Knowing your audience and when to switch grammar style is an important lesson to learn.

I feel sorry for second language users in this forum as they may be misled as to the correct use of English grammar.

I feel sorry for the lazy and misguided as they will discover one day the frustration of someone not complying with their requests or needs because of their poor grammar.

No! they are not dumb, they are so brave to ask even if they don't know how to spell the word and use bad grammar, because they are learning and not waiting for an idiot like you to chick their spelling and grammar.
you are dumb because you do not understand what do they mean that why are you checking the words and grammar instead of finding the answers.

Lack of education or laziness or person with English as a second language who is trying their best. The first two reasons are unforgivable, the second is admirable. It reminds me of a quotation: "A bird is known by his song, a man by his words." When you see such English slop, you instantly know who you are dealing with.

lol i blame it on cellular telephone texting--- human beings get so used to shortening their words to slot in a message and it maintains into their existence. like "i no u r homestead now" "cal me latr im workn ceremony now" and a few human beings are additionally quite undesirable typers and are so preoccupied with finding the letters on the keyboard they overlook what they're writing -- like "witch" instead of "which" and so as that they may well be dyslexic and no longer able to help it. or merely truthfully no longer be good spellers yet that does no longer cause them to ignorant it must be extra good for them to comprehend issues as rapidly as you or i ought to. you may never choose somebody devoid of understanding their circumstances.
