The kind of cable you want is called UF for "underground feeder." It is similar to the 12/2 non-metalic cable in your house except it is sheathed differently and can be used for direct burial. With a 20 amp circuit, you don't have to bury it all that deeply.
However, going to 10/3 UF cable might be a good way to future-proof yourself, just in case you will want a 240V outlet and greater current capability. Most home supply and electrical supply stores will sell UF cable.

Lowe or home depot
wire size is gonna be UF 12/2 with grd
this is a GRey rubber jacket that is tough tough
this would be good for a plug and light you need to bury it it at least a foot in the grd , this is to keep from cutting it with mower
Is there any future for this shed , you might wanna go to 10/3 UF or ever 1 Inch pvc
sound bad but if there is a furure for it .

Consider the ground conditions first. It is best to bury inside of PVC for protection. And it needs to be buried deep enough for future considerations like planting trees, shrubs etc.
The wire should come up inside the shed floor to wall box where there is a switch to cut all power. Lights only? 15 amps.
Table saw? 20 amps etc.
I would use 10/3 grounded if possible change over to 220 might be wanted in the future, the extra spent now will save rewired later.
But whatever, the wiring needs to come up into a circuit breaker box, and then off to switch's and outlets.

You need something that is "underground cable compatable".
Its a black 12/2 with ground, and it says its for underground or outdoor useage. It carries the same amperage that the regular 12/2 carries, but the sheathing is different, as it is weather proof, moisture proof to be more exact.
You can go to Home Depot, LOWES, or any Electrical Supply store and obtain it.
I wish you well..

Yes go buy the underground cable from a supplier near you. Also Would not hurt to increase the wire size to a 10-2 for youe supply line, will cut down on any voltage drop you may run into.
