what kind of motor oil should i put in a 1997 chrysler town and country mini van?

can i use 10w 40?

you should use 5w30 but it wouldnt hurt to use 10w40. As long as you dont live in a cold climate. If you live where it gets cold 10w40 would not protect as well as 5w30.

10w-40 will work just fine

I run this during the summer months

here it is COLD during the winter months so I change the oil to 5w-30

Read the owners manual! The information in there is what is recommended by the manufacturer.
The oil fill cap should have the oil viscosity rating as well.
Use what is recommended it is what the engine is designed to use.

I would recomend 10w-30
