No, not that I've noticed. They speak very similar to the American Midwesterners. And I am now Canadian...although I spent the first 22 years of my life in the southwestern Russian Federation (sometimes USSR/CCCP). I certainly have don't speak like that, although I occasionally use "eh." I used it before I came to Canada though...

Canadians are the perfect linguistic example for me...I am trying to get rid of my accent so that I sound more Canadian/American (but not like the New England or southern Americans). The worst thing about my accent is that I was taught the British variety of English! So, my accent is even more unusual: a Russian-British-trying to be Canadian mixture! Ha ha.

Being Canadian, I can say that there are some of us who do use the term "EH", and some who don't. Canada is HUGE! From the East coast to the West, North to the south there is a wide range of accents. Our country is made up of people who's families immigrated from just about every part of the world...so...as you might expect...there are differences in the accents from one end to the other.

I guess it just depends on who you are talking to "eh"? Oui?

What has stereotypes got to do with the way canadians talk? I hate stereotypes. I also hate the canadian accent. Oh that's what the connection between the two is!

lol not all the time, though my wife (born in Canada, raised in the US) has been known to revert to adding the "eh?" to sentences every now and then :o)

Most fun I've had with stereotypes lately was at the London Dungeon, where if you look like trouble, they put you on "trial" in a medieval courtroom, and of course they pulled me up. the asked me where I was from, and when I said "I am a Welshman" they countered with "Ah, you see - unnatural practices with animals. You were witnessed last night in the stables, fondling a horse!"

"Only cos you'd already booked out the sheep you honour" was the only thing I could think of as a come-back...

Some Canadians actually do say eh. We just don't notice it.

One time I was in Vegas and this RV sideswiped my van on the strip. The licence plate was from Calgary. Almost every other word out of his mouth was- Eh....Eh...Eh.... Well the dumb@$$ didn't have insurance valid in th USA, and I had uninsured motorist coverage, so I made out with some $$$$$ (USD), EH!

It tends to be more common in the rural areas, but yes. I live 20 mile from Windsor and I can usually tell a Canadian by their accent.
