I smoke two or three cigarretes a day, and I've been able to stop for months sometimes, but then something triggers it again, usually, a beautiful woman, whose indifference towards me makes me feel insecure, and incapable of approaching, so I smoke as a way of punishment, I would appreciate you comments and suggestions

look at it this way the comen consensus about smoking especially in school is that it makes u cool!!! now im not saying thats what you think but if you look at it, when you see that beautiful women yuo smoke because now you feel confident???
smoking you cant see as punishment because directly you cant view it as punishment becuase it don't hurt you... it harms you but it doesnt hurt you if you knw what i mean
a friend of myne once said he sees smoking as a pathetic way to commit suicide... indirectly without knowing or thinking about it you are commiting suicide.. agree???
basically you see smoking as a way to make you feel comfident about yourself and makes you relaxed.... now..
i would love to get ladies comments on this aswell!!!
you hav absolutely nothing to be afraid of if you walk up to a beautiful women or she walks up to you... she is also just human yes she mite be beautiful but who says she isnt more afraid of you come over to her!!!! now if asked some of my lady friends and they agree, the worst that can happen is she says NO thats it nothing else!!!
and concerning the smoking i have found that about 90% of women prevers a guy who doesnt smoke fopr the simple reason that it smells and no1 likes to kiss and ash tray, thats what it tastes like to kiss a smoker!!!
so my advice to you is YOU DONT NEED THE SMOKES AS A WAY TO MAKE YOU FEEL CONFIDENT!!! and stop seing it as punishment!!! because it aint punishment!!! its more a turn off for those beautiful women you would like to meet... see my point!!!
hope this helps plz let me know if you disagree

Smoking as a self punishment? Come on!!! What, you've been able to stop punishing you self for months sometimes? Is that what you are saying?
On the other hand I also smoke sometimes when I am nervous, but not to punish myself but to calm myself. I know it is a horrible thing to do but I find it quite enjoyable sometimes.
Smoking as a self punishment??? Get real!

Nicotine is a mild stimulant, and it can act as an anti-depressant. Most people can quit cigarettes without too much difficulty. But some smokers really find it impossible to quit, and it has been hypothesized that such smokers are probably mildly depressive and use the nictotine as a way to self-medicate themselves into a better mood. In the case of those smokers, it helps to prescribe an anti-depressant as part of the quitting routine.
In your case, you tend to start smoking when you feel rejected, so you're probably using the nicotine in a similar fashion--as a way to self-medicate yourself temporarily out of a blue mood.
Your smoking is pretty light to start with, so it's not a big deal. But you could, for example, carry around some nicotine gum with you for when you're feeling blue and desiring a smoke. You can purchase it over the counter at any pharmacy (in the U.S. anyway). The nicotine gum will have the same effect as a cigarette--it will act as a minor stimulant and give you a temporary lift you out of the blue mood--but you'll avoid the bad effects of the tars in cigarettes. And the gum is easier to quit than cigarettes once you no longer need it.
Or you can just stay away from beautiful, indifferent women who are difficult to approach and make you feel insecure. Seek out the company of more average, approachable women who will respond to your attentions. :-)

I believe all addictive habits are a form of self punishment. A person feels the need for something, and as soon as they have it, they have feelings of guilt and form negative ideas about the self, which is why the habit continues. I advise reading Anthony Robbins' book called 'The power within you'. It is very insightful and may help you understand a bit more about your motives for smoking and how to stop.

Do not rely on vices example smoking. It does not have any benefit on you. Why not try exercise as a self punishment. Like jogging or cycling. It help to release tension and build on stamina.

Yes you can smoke yourself to death with marijuana by asphixiation. You can't poison yourself because the LD50 for it is pretty much impossible to injest. Also to add no study has ever demonstrated cellular damage, or stupidity, brought on specifically by even heavy marijuana use. Can I come over and help with your research? >I kept eating brownies until I felt like I was on heroine. then I passed out for a coupple of hours. and that was funny. I make a mean browine, BTW.

I quite smoking using Nic gum. It gives you the same rush of a cigarette, but doesn't waste away your lungs. It also gives your mouth something to do. I am not sure if smoking is a punishment, but it sure is relaxing and can be cure the oral fixation. the Nic Gum can do the same.
