December 15, 1944, a cold, wet and foggy afternoon, Glenn Miller departed RAF-Base, England in a Norseman C-64 aircraft. The flight was to take Glenn Miller and other passengers to Paris. However, the flight never made it. It is believed the aircraft encountered icing conditions over the English Channel and crashed. Glenn Miller and his band had been performing for Allied Troops prior to the crash and was planning on putting on a show in Paris, France. Glenn Miller and his band was idolized by many during his career.

In the Fall of 1944, his band was scheduled to be sent on a six-week tour of Europe and would be stationed in Paris during that time. Miller decided to go ahead, in order to make the proper arrangements for the group's arrival. And so, on December 15th, Glenn Miller boarded a transport plane to Paris, never to be seen again.

No, he disappeared in an air crash OVER France on his way to a posting - possibly a gig. By the way, the "secret" of the GM 'sound' was that he replaced his 1st trumpet part with a clarinet after his lead trumpeter had crack his lip.

How can you die in a car crash flying to France?
Isn't that like drowning in your bed?
It was rumored that a returning bomber dumped its load of bombs and took out the plane.

No , he didn't.... having got tired of the swing scene and the fact that lots of Germans were trying to drastically shorten his life span , he removed himself to the Welsh valleys ( a lovely place) waited until the time was right and re-emerged with a new identity....Joe Strummer. At least that's what a bloke in a pub told me
