Try something different instead of going back and doing the same thing over again. That way, you'll have a feeling of moving forward rather than a fear of starting over. For example, if you failed at a job, try a different kind of job. If it's a broken relationship, do things completely differently this time, or with a person you would have never considered before. Life is an adventure. Don't even consider starting over! Keep moving FORWARD!

By setting a goal. By telling your self that this is as low as I am ever going to get in my life, I am going to go up from here. I lost my wife, all my belongings and my dogs in a house fire. Only to find out that the insurance did not cover one bit of it. The stress and depression destroyed me at work. Three weeks later I was released.
That was August 2004. I have started a new life, I started acting and was able to be paid for doing that. I have started dating and found a few nice ladies. I have some new dogs, and just started to get new stuff. I set a goal for my self that I would never get lower then I was on Sept 5th.
So do that, set a goal, and start working towards it.

By having something to look forward to. Joys are built in such ways. Joy or happiness more than usual overshadows fear.

The only way is getting out there and giving it a try. Maybe go out with a female/male friend first to get the feel of it.

Think that you have achieved success already, only that the world does not know about it. Then start off to make the world know about your achievement.

As with any fear, you just acknowledge it, embrace it, then do exactly what you would do if you weren't afraid.
