The highest mountain in Jamaica is the Blue Mountain with the highest peak at an elevation of 7,402 feet.

I just came back from Jamaica on July 16th and I had climbed to the peak with some friends along with my three kids 16, 11 & 11 on July 8th. It was a breathtaking experience! The hike up took us about 5 1/2 hours and down took us 3 1/2 hours (yep we are first-timers). It is a great experience and I recommend anyone with an appetite for fun and adventure to try it. Jamaica is a beautiful tropical island with many beautiful people. Disregard all the negativity you may hear about poverty and crime. The poverty is present in some locations but the crime is overly exaggerated. We traveled around the island with friends that live there and everywhere we went the people were so warm and friendly. Of course there are folks trying to sell some kind of art or craft work but they are only trying to make a living, that does not bother me or my family.

I know I have strayed a bit from the question, but I cannot resist the urge to write about my experiences in Jamaica whenever I hear "Jamaica" mentioned. To all you folks out there who would like to experience a great time at an affordable price - go to Jamaica it is a great island with great people, sceneries and yes tasty dishes! An all inclusive resort is the best way to go. Places I have stayed and enjoyed are Point Village in Negril (the absolute best..best location, best sunset..you name it), FDR Pebbles in Trelawny (great family resort), Holiday Inn in MoBay (great hotel with lots of activities and easy access to the MoBay's Hip-strip), FDR in Runaway Bay (great for family or couples).

I could write a book on my great experiences there but this wiould suffice for now.

One Love!

Mount Everest, isn't it?

EDIT: Whoops, sorry. West Indies. Um, sorry, can't really help you on that one. Pick up an Atlas- they usually have tall mountains in them.
