Are the people friendly in Dubai towards westerners?

Visit Dubai during sale season(s) if you're looking at buying branded goods. End of season sale usually happens 2-3 times a year and you can buy branded goods up to half (or more ) of its original price. Dubai has 2 major festivals, one in Jan-Feb and another in June to Aug. The major shopping festival, which is Dubai shopping Festival is done from jan-Feb and this would be the best time to come as the weather is also nice. You can get very good deals not only in branded goods but also in other products from other parts of the world as there is a one big village set-up for participating countries and you can haggle as much as you can manage. The other festival, Dubai Summer Surprises is done from June to Sept. Some shops go on sale in June and then in August while others do it in July, but you can be sure that for the whole duration of the summer months, one shop or another is having a sale. Downside of visiting in Dubai at this time, is that the temps go up to the high 40s but if you come june or early july, it is still bearable.
Some hotel-malls offer coupons/discounts up to 30% on participating outlets. If you stay at Sofitel, you get a booklet of coupons for discounts in the deira city center shops.
For open shops or souks, you can always ask for discounts and haggle as this is the usual practice.
And as for service, you can be sure that you get the best. Grumpy and rude staff are a rarity in Dubai.

1. They are very friendly toward Westerners. In any case crime rate in Dubai is almost zero so you are always safe.
2. You can bargain over prices for sure.
3. Try big malls as well as open market (shops) in Bur Dubai.
4. Don't forget to visit nightclubs however they are mostly crowded by Russian and Thai girls, but it's fun.

tips try visiting karama market u will find evey thing in reasonable price specially cloths
yeah people over here are very much friendly but lots among them are horney too so be carefull from them
just never visit a guy alone and u will be safe
and overall u will enjoy ur time over here in dubai if u have nice company

I'm english and live in dubai. it's fine to haggle at markets and souks,(you might have to walk off before they agree to the price) but dont bother in the malls. ignore the other guy and dont go to the hooker nightclubs, you will get hassled and there full of low lifes, there's loads of 'nice' places to go
