and considering opposing views? Is it scary to be urged to reconsider your viewpoint? It won' hurt as much as being hit by a speeding bus, I promise!

I read about 100 books a year, few have a political point of view. I'm in the middle of "Other Origins: The Search for the Giant Ape in Human Prehistory". It's about the interaction between 'homo erectus' and 'Gigantopithecus' more than 100,000 years ago. Fascinating.

As a conservative I listen to NPR more than I do Rush and his ilk, and watch both Fox News and CNN as well as other news channels.

About that bus and enlarging your knowledge base. Please run the obvious experiment and get back to us with the results.

Knowledge is Power - Schoolhouse Rock

The problem with public forums like this is, quite often, you do not get logical arguments, just regurgitated sound bites and biased "facts". Ask a simple question, like "what is a liberal?" and you'll get a lot of answers, none based on researched facts, and none defining liberalism.

I would gladly consider opposing views if the are well thought-out and fact-based, and not the same dyspeptic rhetoric we hear spewed from our leadership on both sides of the aisle.

I am always open to other valid suggestions & solutions. I am sick & tired of hearing nothing but Bush criticism without any solutions, and I think the majority of America is with me. Enlarging your knowledge base is always good. Differences and Diversity allow great ideas & solutions to flourish. Negativity and Criticism tends to divide peolpe.

Because it is convenient to hate. We are a society of convenience. Why learn the truth, that would take time and effort? Intead I'll just blindly hate the other side and call them names. Besides, tv said it was true, so it must be.

i agree to be able to see things from both sides is being more open minded and then a person is able to make a more educated decision, of course people are entitled to their own opinions so if that is the way they like it then good for them.

It would be wonderful, but with the way people raise their kids to think they are always right, it will never happen.

Wouldn't it be great if people took responsibility for their actions?
