Well, friend, it sounds like you have a malware issue that corrupted your system files. There is a system command you can enter from the command prompt that will compare your system files to those on the install CD, but it escapes me as I type this. Personally, I would run tests on the memory and hard drive and if all checked out well, I would then format and re-install Windows. Of course, I have an active backup of everything on my computer that I cannot afford to lose in such an event.

Good luck.

Run a DISK CHECK.
Click START,click MY COMPUTER.Right click on the drive you want to check for errors(Usually (C)). Click PROPERTIES. in the properties box, click TOOLS tab. press the CHECK NOW button. In the check disc box, check both boxes and click START. You will have to restart your PC, so follow prompts to do so.
This could take up to an hour to check and clean errors.Once it's done, it will take you to the Log-In.
Try it, hope it helps.

OK try this:
1.reinstall audio drivers
2.system restore to earlier times
3.scan a system for possible Trojan or virus
4.get your windows CD and copy run.dll from CD to drive
5.unninstall any latest installed programs
6.create backup and reinstall windows
7.defragment disc

You will have a sound card driver which was given to you when you purchase it. Try re-installing it.
