Recently acquired LongHorn bull. He was fine for a few days, and then decided to jump the fence and get into a wooded area with some cows next door. We can't seem to coax him back with feed.

You can't really tempt a bull back into a pasture especially if hes a full grown long horn, but if he's used to being fed with cubes or a sweet feed of some sort then try shaking the bag where he can hear it and walk him over to the other pasture or you can try to herd him but be sure to carry a gun or something to protect you (and your horse if you have one) bulls can be very dangerous.

From my experience Longhorn bulls are very sentimental animals. A few poseys in a vase and a good song about mama will no doubt reduce the brute to a weeping mess. When bulls get sad, they do nothing but eat and sleep. So, when he's sleeping you can wrap him up in your arms with swaddling cloth and gently carry the poor fella back to your pasture.

If that fails. . .burn the wooded area.

Not only does your bull want a girlfriend, he wants company. Cattle are herd animals. They do not feel safe or happy when solo. You need to get this big boy a herd of his own, or give up on trying to keep him.

Ride him! That's what we do with our bull when he gets out.

He was a little skittish at first, but after he threw my brother off and crushed and gored him, he calmed right down! (The bull, I mean. My brother didn't calm down at all. He just kept on bleeding and yelling "For the love of God! Somebody help me!")

Show him a nice female in the next field and he'll be back in there like a shot.
