The other night a contestant on "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" said in response to a question, "When I first saw the answer to the question, I was suprised." She implied that she had already seen the questions and answers beforehand and she was just trying to recall the best answer. I've long suspected that the contestants are given all the questions prior to the show and their memorization skills determine their ability to win. Can anyone confirm this?

I don't know about Millionaire but on Jeopardy the questions are not seen before hand. You actually have to be smart to play real Jeopardy.....Millionaire always struck me as a bogus show anyway. Maybe it's just the way it's done. As for the contestant saying she was surprised by an answer when she saw it.....it certainly sounds like she might have seen the questions before hand. But I think there was a scandal about that back in the 50's with game shows and they got in a lot of trouble.
