data link layer simulation using java?

could you please tell me how i can program a simulation for the some of the protocols( stop n wait, sliding widnow) in Data link Layer

Actually Java can not go below n/w layer Directly,

But u can make programms using socket that can
implement PRograms for protocols like, Stop n Wait
..
Sliding window etc.
