an avg fish eats a pinch of food every 12 hrs. normally if you do over feed the fish they can die. goldfish are prone to being overfed and dying. if it was a big fish its really not easy to kill a fish from over feeding. this way you cant kill any more fish get yourself a bottom feeder or 2. they eat all food that gets to the bottom of the tank this way your fish wont over eat. don't get a sucker fish cause it really doesn't eat anything off the bottom. the fish cost about 4 bucks a piece so it wont break the bank.

The answer is "I don't know". There are many reasons why a fish dies. It could be

1. Eaten up by a bigger fish
2. Disease
3. Shock due to change in water temperature / water quality
4. Old age
5. Fight with other fishes etc

Over eating is just one of the possible reasons. If your fish is a gold fish, it is highly possible that overeating could be a clause of death. For more information, please visit my blog at http://www.aquariumlore.blogspot.com

Well I don't know the details, like what kind of fish, how much you fed it, and how many times a day. But it is a very real possibility to overfeed your fish. I feed all of mine once a day!

Never put more food in a tank than can be consumed in five minutes. Fish will eat/puke/eat forever. That's why when fishing at sea we look for schools of birds feeding on the puked up food of fish in a eat/puke/eat frenzy.

yes ...over feeding fish could cause alot of things like ich from dirty water quality and it also raises the nitrites which will kill your fish also. so yes rule of thumb. dont follow instructions on fish food they just want you to buy more...feed twice a day.only enough they can eat in a few minutes like 3 to 5 min. if theres still food left you feed them to much...just watch and see how much they eat...have fun and if you have any other ? just email me...

its probably not that, if you didn't treat the water in the fish tank, that could be a reason, but you can never tell with fish, i had 5 fish die within a month, i don't know why either?!!

well it really depends on how many times you feed if you fed it more than twice a day and alittle more than a pinch than you might've but there are also other things that could happen like it got ick or baby it just got sick who knows.

P.S don't your fish in a bag puit in a freezer and keep it there for a year my friend that and man her freezer stinks! :~p

That could be it, it's also very possible it died of some other cause, such as old age or disease. If you know that you overfed it, then that's probably the cuase

some fish can be very sensitive and might die from too much food....or it could be water quality or temperature? or maybe even shock.
