Is it because of the education system? The media? The Government? Our culture?

SIngaporeans are not cynical in general. But many of the younger people are all trying to be more Ang Mo than the ang mo, very xenocentric, where if a product is made in europe then it must good, but made in Hong long... err. How can not be seen as cynical when asians are not proud to be asian? Not cynical.. mislead

One thing I did notice in Singapore when i was studying there for 4 years you ask any young Singaporean if they are chinese/indian/malay? At 7 out of 10 ALMOST ALWAYS like to add in that they are mixed... I found that amusing. Are you Malay - " err..yes and no, I am mixed" Are you Chinese? " No lah, may great grand Father got mix blood", Are you Indian? " No I am not... I am mixed with Eurasian"

If I have to blame, I will blame media because before Phua CHu Kang, Under one roof and such wonderfully typical asian programs came about, TCS hosts and stars all were speaking as if they spent their whole life in the West. And it invoked the locals to also speak like that because it is seen as " Happenin' leh", speak with ang mo accent but broken English... now THAT is si beh pai seh... hahaha.

Cheers Singapore! You are really a Good Mix of Fun and Funnies.
