x-4x=9y
-3x=9y
x=9y divied by -3

Therefore, x = -3y! ( or y= -1/3x )

You have to put all the x on one side of the equation and the y on the other side. So starting from x = 4x9y --> x / 4x = 9y --> 1/4 = 9y ---> 1/(4.9) = y --> y = 1/36 As for the x any value will satisfy the equation given that y = 1/36.

Solution-Depends on whether its x=4 times 9y or x=4x times 9y

If it was x=4x times 9y
x=4x9y
x/4x=9y Divide both sided by 4x
1/4=9y Update of upper line
1/36= y
or .027777

Now if it x=4 times 9y
x= 4*9y
1/4x=9y
1/36x=y or 36y=x

whatever floats your boat

x = 4x 9y
x = 36xy (multiply the 4*9)
1=36y (divide both sides by x)
1/36 = y (divide both sides by 36)
