There are some video stores that have a special high speed buffing machine that makes the CD/DVD like new, or almost new. I've used them many times and they're great. In Albuquerque, theres a book/media chain store called Hastings. Maybe theres one near you. In Fairfield, CT there's a small store called MediaWave. You may be able to mail it into them... ask for Paul if you go that route.

By the way, I've tried the little personal buffers (between $30-$50) and they're OK for very minor scratches. You might find one at Staples, CompUSA, BestBuy, etc.

I know that I have had CD's get scratches on them and this is what I do...Take toothpaste, not the gel kind, but instead like colgate or something solid colored, and squeeze it onto the cd. Then I smear it all over the cd with my finger. Let it set for a minute or so and then wash it off with hot water. For some reason it works....I think it gets into the scratches and fills them in or something....im not sure if it works on dvds but i guess you could try it....as far as drying it off, i just take a tshirt or something with that kind of material and gently dry it off....good luck.

Yeah....i've been sort of waiting for tis question to answer!
I promise if u follow this method scratches sort of get cured!
u cannot remove it completely but surely can help the scratches to slip while getting stuck..................
take some tissue dip it in nail polish remover(dip fully and generously:) apply it on the cd with fair amount of force!
and ..................u'll forget everything while the movie is playing.
