Keep your LCD monitor clean with these steps:
Turn off the computer and display
Use water only to dampen a lint-free cloth. Do not spray liquid directly on the screen
Wipe the screen
You may also use a mild glass cleaner that contains no alcohol or ammonia, available at most office supply stores. Apple has tested a product called Klear Screen and found it does not cause harm to plastics.

I use Windex on all I clean.
(Flat panel or old CRT)
First be sure screen is off and cooled down for a few minutes.
Never spray the screen! Always spray the cloth or paper towel and do not have it dripping wet, just damp. Wipe lightly but not too lightly.
Use a dry cloth or paper towel to dry.
Repeat for stubborn marks.
Never had a problem and I have done thousands.
You can get special wipes and sprays, but in my opinion there an expensive alternative to something you probably already have. (Glass cleaner and paper towels)

you should never use a chemical such as ammonia (windex) on a flat screen...
" Though some people recommend using Windex, ethyl alcohol and ammonia-based cleaners can yellow your flat-screen or laptop monitor over time, so it is best to avoid such products. You can find an array of commercial products specifically designed to clean LCD screens, but you may prefer to just head to your kitchen and mix up your own solution. Plain old water can do the trick, or you can concoct a solution of vinegar and water or isopropyl alcohol and water."

Now be very careful with this BUT it works wonders.....grab ya mam's Vinigar out of the cupboard, ya know the one she puts on the table when ya have chips. Put a little on a clean cloth and clean your screen, buff up immediately with a duster "SPARKLE " I use it on my lappy screen and I paid nearly £2,000.00 for it, so I would not take risks.....But remember use a little not a gallon dont drown ya screen okay.

The best cleaners can be found at Wal-Mart, Staples or Office Depot. One cleaner is Monster Screen Cleaner. You spray it on a cloth and it is slightly sticky.
