If you have your XP CD, simply put it in the CD drive and boot the PC from it. It will start the XP set up and about 4-5 screens into the setup will offer to fdisk/format the drive for you. Does it automatically as part of a Windows XP reinstall.

If you are going to format your computer, don't use fdisk.

Get this program DBAN: autonuke at this address.

http://dban.sourceforge.net/

Put files to a CD and make the CD bootable. Make sure your bios is set to check for boot devices from CD first. Then restart, wait for scrreen to come up. type autonuke and enter. Will compeltely wipe your harddrive. Then restart with windows cd and re-install.
