TERRO liquid ant traps, the ants love it. My neighbor had millions of ants, and a cat. We killed them all in about a week. Traps are easy to place under stuff or in cabinets.
To bad we can't train cats to eat ants!!

Ant Killer Recipe
1 teaspoon boric acid
2 1\2 ounces corn syrup
2 1\2 ounces of water
Heat the syrup until it bubbles (careful it will stick if it gets on your skin). Remove from the heat and stir in the boric acid until it's dissolved than add the water mixing it in well.
Punch holes almost to the bottom of cleaned out margarine or any small plastic disposable containers. You want the holes low enough for the ants to be able to get in, but high enough so that when you add a spoonful or so of syrup it doesn't run out all over.
The containers with their covers on will keep the cats from eating the poison.
Put the containers on the paths that the ants have been traveling. Once the workers discover it, there will be furious activity while they take the syrup to the nest. You might need to replace the container as some will die in and around the container.
After a few days your ants should be gone.

Mix honey and boracic acid, in equal quantities, together with a little warm water until the acid is dissolved. Place a few droplets or abt a half teaspoonful onto the lid of a jar and place into the line of ants. The honey is an attractant and they will feed on the mixture and take it back to their nest to feed others. I have had up to 14 cats in and around my home and none have had any reaction whatsoever to this mixture.

I found this hint in an infomercial - Wipe surfaces down with white vinegar and water then put some bay leaves in the corners of the room, I tried it and I haven't seen any ants in my kitchen since.

I use a spray and make sure the cats stay away from it until it is dried. Usually there is no problem because the smell isn't that great.
