I took Lexapro...as far as weight gain or loss it was never affected; however, the medication made me feel Ok for about a month but once it had gotten settled in my system,I had increased depression, extreme irritability, I had violent behaivor, I made irrational decisions, I even attempted suicide. I personaly felt the medication had an oppiste affect on me, I stopped taking it and I feel like myself again. I would never take another antidepressent again. Im sure it reacts diffrently with diffrent people, to me it was the medication from hell it emotionaly destroyed me thats why I stopped use. If you are taking it a you see a change in yourself for the worse see your doctor immediatly and have him try maybe something that will work for you. Good luck to you

I have been on it for about three years now, and so far, so good.
I tend to have to change meds periodically, as they suddenly just stop working. Usually, two years is about the limit of use I get out of one drug before my body gets to used to it that it doesn't work anymore, so I am pleased that the Lexapro is still helping me.
I have not had a lot of the side effects I have had with other anti-depressants since I started Lexapro. Most notably, I have not had weight gain or loss, dry mouth, or the jitters. (I am supposed to be taking it in conjunction with something else which does make me anxious, so I am taking it alone right now until the anxiety is under control.)
Overall, it is one of the best meds I have been on, but I do know from talking to people that it does not work well for everyone. Do give it a try though, as so far, it's been good for me.

Lexapro is certainly one of, if now not the most secure SSRI with the least part results that exists proper now. It certainly is not going to difference who you're, because it does not honestly lift your temper, that is now not the way it works. It may be very riskless, but it surely makes a few folks sleepy, and factors a few sexual part results in a few folks. It MIGHT make you reap weight, however usually, it is just a bit of bit, and is much more likely because of the corrected melancholy than the drug itself, when you consider that SSRI's generally tend to make you lose a tiny little bit of weight proper while you begin, and while it begins running, which takes three+ weeks, that is while you begin seeing the burden reap. the most important con w/ lexapro is that it is freakishly luxurious. plenty of coverage businesses may not duvet it, or will duvet it at top rate to the sufferer on the grounds that it has an excessively low-priced option, sertraline, that's ordinarily simply as well and in addition riskless.

I was on it for 3 years and I got off cause it did not seem to work anymore. But I was not aware of the withdrawal i would have. I was sick and nauseated for a week even though i slowly went off like prescribed. It was horrible i would not take it again because of that!!
