So basically, terrorism and killing children is ok when it's done in the name Yahweh, but not Allah? I'm neither Jewish nor Muslim, but this sickens me. They are targeting children. Why are we ignoring this? Both sides are wrong, but Israel has taken it too far. What are your thoughts? Intelligent adults only please.

Well, one of the main reasons we had to "intervene" in Iraq, according to the current administration, is because of the many atrocities committed by Saddam. I'm not saying go in and fight another war, but at least agree with the rest of the world and call for a cease-fire! Maybe we could stop selling weapons to Israel. But y'all would be pretty bored if there weren't so many pretty fireworks on the news, right?

I'm not saying that Israel should stand down when they are attacked. But enough is enough, they've made their point. Isn't it time to pull out?

Because our leaders understand the role of television in post-modern warfare. It has a numbing effect. We are desensitized towards all forms of violence. So they sell their wars as products just like companies sell their products with television commercials. As long as people do not think the Israeli occupation of Arab lands is as criminal as the Treaty of Frankfurt or the Treaty of Versailles, people will blindly support any war that Israel wages. Never mind that Hezbollah had offered prison exchanges from day one. They are "terrorists", not Arab freedom fighters. Anyone who denies this is un-American...so can you blame people for just watching television and sighing?

Uh, maybe it is because Bush has pursued a flawed Middle East policy since the day he was inaugurated? If Gore had been allowed to assume the Presidency as ordained by the electorate and not the Supreme Court, then Madeline Albright would have stayed on as Secretary of State and most likely there would have been NO 9/11 no war in Iraq, none of that crap! If Madeline had been Secretary of State she would have chopped off Saddam sausage without all the gore & bloodshed unleashed on Afghanistan and Iraq. You are correct in assuming that this a dirtier conflict than many others but you are wrong to think that Israel will emerge from this with honor. Israel's war on Hezbollah has given them more strength & power. They'll emerge from this conflict stronger and better organized. And who knows, perhaps that was what was intended all along/ Peace.

Whatever you are, it is not objective. You obviously have a pre-existing predjudice against Israel. You ask for intelligent answers, but I have to wonder if you are willing to listen. However, I guess I'm an optimist, so I'll try to enlighten you.

Israel does not target children, or any other civilians. Before attacking targets in heavily populated areas, they drop leaflets telling all the civilians to get out. Doing this is an advantage to the terrorists, as it allows them leave the area as well. But Israel does it anyway because they are trying to avoid civilian deaths. When was the last time Hezbollah warned anybody before they attacked?

Israel uses precision guided munitions. The vast majority of the time, they hit their intended military targets. Hezbollah uses unguided rockets aimed only at civilian centers.

Israel, like all legitimate governments, maintains military bases away from civilian centers. So if they are targeted, the likelihood of civilian casualties is minimized. Hezbollah, like all terrorists, has military bases directly inside civilian centers. They do this intentionally, so that when the victims of their terrorist actions retaliate, civilians are going to be in the line of fire.

Israel has the military might to defeat the army of multiple nations simultaneously, as they have done 3 times in the past. If they wanted to kill civilians on purpose, they could flatten entire cities in hours. If they wanted to kill civilians, there would be tens of thousands dead instead of 300. If they wanted to kill civilians, they would not drop leaflets telling them to get out of the way.

All evidence, and all sense plainly shows that Israel acts like a responsible nation and tries very hard to avoid civilian casualties. Only those blinded by hatred can not see the truth.

Well, Being a Christian, I am now not familliar with G-d or Torah. They sound to me like a few characters out of Star Wars. However, please don't take this as a mild, it's only my lack of knowledge. The Americans, at the side of the relaxation of the arena- adding Russia & China, have to keep a presence, now not simplest within the midle east, however international. Israel is the one nation within the midle east (excepting might be Saudi Arabia) who're professional the west, so the western international locations have got to comprimise with those international locations. They don't regularly trust , and even like what they do, however, who else have they obtained in that neighborhood. Perhaps, if one of the crucial Arab states might be extra pleasant closer to America and Europe, then they could advantage from it.

I live in Canada. If terrorist were living just across the boarder in the states using it as a base of operations against the Canadian people and the Americans did nothing to stop that then I would expect my government and military to take action to stop it, even if that meant innocent civilian lives. Isn't a soldier a civilian with bad clothing?

If you think that Israel is going to just stand there and let the terrorist attack its people at will and not do anything about it, you are living in a world of denial and pure ignorance.

Children are not targeted. You just say this but your premise is untrue. It is true that Muslims hide behind children and fire rockets from peoples residences.

Who ever came up with the idea that civilians aren't affected by war? When did that EVER happen?

Why do you expect a sense of safety during a war.

Why have the Lebanonese allowed the Hezabollah to settle amoung them and set up their camps. Who put them in harm's way? They did!

first off, the war in lebanon and israel has been going on for ever. we dont htink what they're doing is right. but not thinking doesn'[t stop wars. and we dont want to get involved cause last time america interfered all we did was spark more fighting. all we can hope for is an eventual peace, though it should take some time. alot of time.

I think the USA and its babysitting mentality and referee history needs to start standing back and let these countries and religous groups work out thier own differences. Every time we get involved for whatever reason in the long run we end up being the heavy.

There are a lot of things wrong with what's going on in the Middle East. But I don't know how you can say we are "ignoring" any of it. I don't think any of us, including our leadership, understand the mindset of the people who are fighting over there. Everything we do seems to anger someone, and I don't think we can "fix" it.
