My best friend who is 23, is in trouble. She recently was taking care of her grandma, who, just a couple of weeks ago, broke her hip and ended up in a nursing home. Now my friend is living by herself and has to pay the bills. She has no job. I am only 17, so I can't help her out a whole lot. She says that if she can't pay the bills then she'll have to move in with her aunt and uncle till her grandma gets out of the nursing home. She doesn't get along with them cause they try to control her life. She said she doesn't even think she'll make it there a week. She said if that doesn't work out then she's gonna move to Kentucky with her cousins. If she does that then I will NEVER see her again. She is my best friend and the only true friend I have right now. She has tried to get food stamps but they said she doesnt qualify, so now she thinks community action won't help her out either. She needs to get $200 before August 3rd. Is there anyway to keep my best friend in Indiana with me?

To keep your friend in town, you'll need to do everything you can to:

1) Help her find other work to pay her bills
2) Help her find financial aid to pay for her grandma's bills
3) Help her find alternate housing.

Talk to your other friends and family about how to answer those questions locally. To keep her in town, you'll have to help her meet her major financial needs.

Is there a "Labor Ready" in your area? This is daily work for daily pay. Mon - Sat. That's what I do in a pinch. It's nice of you to want to help. Maybe you could sign up as well, and help her out. I wish you both luck.
