First off, what makes you think that Elton John, Billy Joel, Barry Manilow are some of the best piano players of all time? Are you kidding? Ever listened to the jazz masters: Duke Ellington, Thelonius Monk, McCoy Tyner, Dave Brubeck, etc...? Not to mention, Ben Folds is way better than any of the ones you have listed, and he's super popular right now too....

Out of your simple list, Billy Joel is the best. He performs and writes Jazz, classical, and pop. Good 'pop' composer.

Given ONLY those choices, I have to go w/ Billy Joel, he's created some very interesting, memorable and complex tunes. Elton scores a close second. But if you'll broaden your choice list, I'd have to include and put Rick Wakeman, the keyboardist from YES, at the top
