If its a Fancy guppy then its going to have babies for the next 5-6 months at aobut evey 28 to 36 days. If you don't want anymore then you need to get another tank QUICK and put males in one and females in the other. Other wise they will just keep breeding. If the mother will eats the baby fry and thats ok by you then don't worry about moving them around.
If you want to keep the baby fry then you should be moving the mother from the babies after they are born other wise she will eat them.
If you want more info on guppies you can to

That is where I go and believe me I learned a lot form this site.
I breed and raise fancy guppies. I have 3 tanks, 40 gallon with male guppies, a 29 with female guppies, and 1.5 thats is waiting on my next batch of fry....
Good Luck

It depends what type it is, platys, mollies, and guppies can breed once a month. If you don't want so many babies I suggest you get an angelfish, as long as you have a big enough tank (they can get 6 inches long and up to 10 inches tall) but are really beautiful and make a snack out of the newborns.

I need to know what type of fish it is first, before I can answer your question.
How you know it is pregnant? Does it has a gravel spot? If so, it is a live bearer. Live bearers breeds 3-4 times a year, if I remember correctly.
If it has eggs on the top near leaves, and the parents care for the young, it is most probably a cichilid type. :)

Usually about once a month, depending on the species. What kind is it?
