Absolutely unethical if they would not tell you as their interest would be divided; however, if your spouse files and you choose not to get an attorney and allow that attorney (your spouses) to come up with all of the filings in the divorce and make all of the arrangements, then the answer is no, as it is clear that that lawyer has the interest of your spouse at heart, not yours. You should retain your own lawyer.

Ethically your attorney should represent you and should tell you that he has a conflict of interest because he is your spouses personal attorney. This is a code for all attorneys they do not represent people that are connected. But is is called a conflict of interest and if your attorney has not disclosed this information to you and you know about it I would first talk to him about it and if there are no changes than I would report him to the Law review board.

divorce attorneys are bottom feeders, they have no concept of ethics, they sleep with their clients and other shady things, they coach you on how to lie and screw over your ex,.don't expect ethics from this subhuman demonic group of society
