Simple...They don't. Once someone dies they do not grow toenails any longer. Growth in the body is impossible due to the fact that the cells are dead in the body and no longer cause growth. After death the body dehydrates causing the skin to shrink causing the optical illusion of growth. The toenails only appear to have grown because after the skin shrinks up after dehydration more of the nail is exposed.

Fingernails, toenails and hair are made of protein which stops growing after a person dies. They only appear to grow because the skin around them decomposes and recedes after death.

Your nails and yoour hair is simply dead skin. So when you die your skin dies and it appears as if your nails are growing but it is just because the skin is dying., It only happens for a short while after you die.

they do grow also your hair...my friend had witnessed it...when they were digging his father's grave to bring out the remains to seal it in the lockers like done in Christian graveyards...he actually saw that his father's hair had grown till his shoulders which were not even till his neck when burried...so m sure that the fundda of our skin sinking is Crap!!!! it can't sink so much that the hair reached the shoulders
