I do not care about the video, I just want to know if Tim ever was specific in an interview or if he was ever even asked.

Yes, she dies. It's in the video, she dies when she gives birth, it's a really sad video.

There's no answer in the song itself, but It's very common to answer questions like that in the music video. For example, in Reba McIntyre's "Does he love you?" about how the other woman and she are thinking about what they have to give the man the both love, the end of the video shows the other woman and her husband getting on a boat which blows up as Reba walks away.
Reba's not one to pull punches :) Anyway, if you want to find out for sure, get a copy of the video from somewhere.

I'm thinking she did not die....but it's been awhile since I've seen the video.
