Ancient Chinese proverb states
"To find what one thinks of you, you should ask what he thinks of you."
Also "If you piss on electric fence, you will get a shocking surprise."

Best way is to ask a go-between to do the asking.
I run assessment centres and some of them require that the participants find out what others think of them. I get to do the asking and feed the results back (having checked there are no nasty ones first)

you can read between the lines and the body language.
if you are fat, ask what your friends think about fat people !
you can ask others for help.
Beware of some shocking news.
Some people just do not connect.
It could be looks, jealousy, compatibiliyt, or some magnetic vibes, sometimes you have to live with it.

ask your friends to drop it into conversation while your not there and then report back to you, if you want you can do the same for them if they wish as a repayment.
