I'd say on the whole, and for the money that you'll be spending, it's a good value. The Rug Doctor will not do as well as a professional carpet cleaning company, but I feel you'll be satisfied with the results unless your carpet has serious stains. If your carpet is in bad shape, call a reputable firm to do your rugs... then you can maintain them in good shape with the Rug Doctor.

Not so well...I ended up investing in the Bissell Pro Heat shampooer and I LOVE IT!! It gets my carpet cleaner than any professional cleaning service! It isn't very expensive (about $140) and pretty much pays for itself on the first use. With 3 dogs and 3 cats, I have to shampoo every 5-7 weeks and this machine kicks butt!!
