I presume we are talking GREAT Britain ?
Well firstly we would need to make it Britain again not a dumping ground for half the worlds population !
At the same time we should be packing up all of the Government and parceling them off to some other country far, far away (somewhere with no inhabitants if possible) so that they can screw that up like they have done here.
Then we need to get our pride back by re-asserting ourselves as the strong nation we used to be. We need to think and act for ourselves, by ourselves.
Power needs to be given to those with common sense and a strong loyalty to what this country used to be and what it could be again.............
!! Vote Jim for Prime Minister !! (Jim Davidson)

First and foremost I would eliminate all automatically recurring aid to foreign countries. Financial aid to foreign entitiies rarely reaches it's intended targets and we simply become a joke as we send all of our money overseas, thinking it will bring all the world to our side, when, in fact, we just become the host for parasite nations.
Secondly, I would remove the Federal government from all areas which the constitution has not prescribed for it. You may believe in extensive welfare and housing systems and public education, or not, but that doesn't mean the Federal Government is the right party to control it. So much tax money is wasted on the unbearable federal beauracracy which is designed to take money from the citizens of our states, pay lots of people billions to sit around and decide what the best way is for us to spend our money, and then give half of it back with strings attached. the federal government should be out of education, welfare, housing, etc. Even states should have very limited roles in all of the above. They are a function of local governments and charities.
When the federal welfare system is gone, and any assitance is minimal and locally managed, immingration will not be as big of an issue. If all immigrants really are coming to our country for an opportunity to work and there are no welfare benefits to be had, the immigrants we receive will be mostly productive. Illegal immigration must still be brought to a halt but legal immigration can be expanded and easier to obtain.
The minimum wage must be eliminated. Some will make lower wages but many who are currently unemployed will find work. some money is better than no money.
We must eliminate our dependence on foreign oil. We are held hostage to the demands of oil producing countries because we do not have enough and environmentalists will not let us tap into what we have. Meanwhile we are paying subsidies to farmers to NOT produce crops, and keep supply low and prices up, even though we have the technology to produce fuel from corn. Eliminate all subsidies to farmers and find ways to use our untapped farm production to create fuels to replace crude oil. When that happens, the middle east and South America will realize that they needed us much more than we need them.
Eliminate the UN, or at least the US participation in it. We pay the majority of the working budget of the UN yet we reap the least benefit. The corrupt leadership makes decisions based only on the benefits obtained to themselves and the countries they have back room deals with. They threaten nations that may be violating prescribed rules but never act on threats.
These are just the first baby steps and I do have to get back to work. You got me all worked up!!
By the way, you didn't specify a country. People from all over the world are on this site. I am clearly talking about the United States which, even with all the above problems, is still the greatest country on earth.

I would do anything to return this Country to it's former glory. I hate the fact we've gone too politically correct, and that we bend over backwards to please other nations, even by breaking our own traditions and rules. We need to actually get a strong, anti-EU government, and become our own Nation again. We have become (almost) an EU state, and will only do something if we ask Brussels nicely. THIS IS SO WRONG! Let's keep Britain great by staying as the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, not the United States of Europe. We are our own Nation!

There is only one thing we need: a strong minded, brave, sensible government which listens to and cares about the people; which wouldn't bow down to the EU or US; would have bucket loads common sense and intelligence and would care more about improving our quality of life than it's own salary or agenda. Such a government would work wonders.

Cut out ALL the programs people abuse. WIC, Food Stamps, Welfare, free school lunch and breakfast, etc. and so on. That would stop people from coming here looking for a free ride. It would lower taxes so good people could be happier. It would help get this country out of debt.

Get rid of the government for a start off, pick decent hard working honest people and have them sit in Parliament, make sure they listen to and aid every cause in THIS country and give us back our hope and futures so we have something to get up for in a morning, we should be RULE BRITANNIA not FOOL BRITANNIA
