It is not easy to decide. "The Passion of the Christ" and "Signs" are out. The former is too gory and why use an obscure language? The latter is just silly. I dozed on it while watching it on TV. "The Patriot" and "Braveheart" are good I think. I suppose my favorite is "Payback", for it is hard to beat a good revenge tale. "The Count of Monte Cristo" is best, but "Payback" is good on a less ambitious scale. It is a remake of "Point Blank"(1967). Lee Marvin is much more convincing as an amoral ultra-tough pro armed robber than Mel, but Lucy Liu is better than Angie Dickinson. The end of "Payback" is more satisfying as well.

Man Without a Face.
This was the movie that showed Mel Gibson could act. His face was disfigured so you know that the movie wasn't about his good looks. It was a touching film and had a great plot. Truley a great movie.

"Braveheart", closely followed by "We Were Soldiers". "Braveheart" because of the depth of passion that Gibson showed as William Wallace, both as a lover of freedom and as a tortured man who lost his true love.
"We Were Soldiers" for his portrayal of Hal Moore, a soldier who loved his family, his country and his men by serving as an ideal example of what it means to be responsible and compassionate.
Completely forgot about "Passion of the Christ". If you've seen it, you'll understand why I like it so much.
Ok, three choices for one favorite fim. So sue me.:-)
